The weekly Kirkland Police blotter is represented on an interactive map below. Instead of listing the selection of calls separately, this feature allows the information relating to the call to be placed on the map itself.
The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.
Between Sept. 23-29, the Kirkland Police Department reported 361 traffic violations (one DUI), 19 traffic accidents, 11 noise complaints, 12 thefts, five animal control calls, six domestic violence calls, 10 alarm calls, four motor vehicle thefts, 11 motor vehicle prowls, four cases of illegal substances, six burglaries, four harassments, 10 cases of fraud, four malicious mischief calls and one assault. At least 27 people were arrested.

Oct. 5
Theft: 11:27 a.m., 123 5th Ave. Someone cloned a Kirkland woman’s debit card and used the card to make two $500 withdrawals in Bellevue. Chase bank knows where the withdrawals were made but didn’t give the exact details to the victim. The woman still has her original debit card.
Burglary: 5 p.m., 13100 block of N.E. 123rd Street. A Snohomish man reported that an unknown suspect broke into his office trailer and stole approximately $400 worth of power tools sometime over the weekend. No serial numbers or whiteness were provided. The suspect entered through the main door by prying the door from the frame.
Oct. 3
Theft: 12:38 p.m., 12800 block of 95th Ave. N.E. A theft occurred from an unknown suspect using stolen ATM card information.
Oct. 2
Motor vehicle theft: 11:17 a.m., 12800 block of N.E. 124th Street. Officers contacted a sales rep at Rairdon Jeep after he called to report that a 39-year-old Seattle man had taken a 2006 BMW 3301 for a test drive and had not returned. The rep said that just after handing the male his passport back, he took off in the car.
Domestic: 6:19 p.m., 11200 block of N.E. 112th Street. A 26-year-old Kenmore man was contacted outside his residence and arrested on probable cause for domestic violence. The man had assaulted his girlfriend at her residence in Kirkland earlier in the evening and fled the scene. The man was booked into Kirkland jail, while his girlfriend was transported to the Evergreen Hospital ER for a medical evaluation.
Burglary: A Kirkland man reported that an unidentified suspect broke into his storage unit on Oct. 2. The suspect stole his Toshiba Laptop, cleaning supplies, cookware, old Xbox games and a men’s leather jacket. An officer received and reviewed video surveillance and contacted a potential witness. The suspect was a white slender female, in her mid 20s with long brunette hair, driving an older gray, full-size sedan with faded paint on the hood. A license plate number was not retrievable from the tape.
Motor vehicle prowl: 10 p.m., 12500 block of N.E. 132nd Court. A Kirkland woman reported that her 2003 Ford Focus was prowled sometime during the night. Entry was gained through an unlocked door. The vehicle was ransacked, however nothing was taken.
Oct. 1
Disorderly conduct: 11:30 a.m., 11100 block of N.E. 123rd Lane. An 18-year-old Kirkland man was yelling, swearing and intimidating his pregnant girlfriend in the parking lot of the Heronfield Apartments. The man was so loud that residents and employees came out to see what was happening. The man did not welcome police contact and did not comply with commands. After a brief struggle the man was detained and arrested for disorderly conduct.
False reporting: 12:43 a.m., 123 5th Ave. A 26-year-old man came into the Kirkland Police Department to file a stolen vehicle report. The man initially attempted to file a stolen vehicle report the previous night, coincidentally three minutes after his vehicle collided with a concrete barrier on southbound 1-5 at Union Street. The three occupants of that vehicle fled the scene before Washington State Patrol arrived. The man was told four times that if he signed the Stolen Vehicle Signature Form and was lying, he could be arrested for false reporting. The man signed the form and an officer told the man that he would check his cell phone records and see what tower his phone was “pinging” off of when he made the initial report and he would be arrested for false reporting. The man then told the officer he didn’t have insurance and that’s why he ran so he was arrested for false reporting.
Malicious mischief: 9 p.m., 141 Park Lane. A Kirkland female reported that an unknown suspect broke a large flower pot at the Paisley Cupboard business on Park Lane.
Sept. 29
Questionable actions: 6 p.m., 11700 block N.E. 80th Street. A Kirkland man believes that a door-to-door magazine salesman may not produce the goods he purchased. His belief is based on research of the company after the fact, having found negative feedback about the company on the internet. The man is also upset that they cashed two checks the salesman agreed to hold two weeks since the man did not have sufficient funds to cover the checks. The salesman cashed the checks immediately, causing the man some fees.
