Tonight in a televised Mixed Martial Arts fight, Kirkland fighter Caros Fodor will take on Minnesota’s Derek Getzel in a lightweight battle.

The fight, which is being held tonight, Nov. 19 in Jackson, Miss. at the Jackson Convention Complex will air on Showtime at 11 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time.

Fodor, who trains at Kirkland’s AMC Kickboxing and Pankration gym, is trained by Matt Hume. Fodor is 3-0 with two submissions and one decision win in his career.

Fodor, who grew up in Shoreline, joined the Marines after graduating from high school, and was one of the youngest in his platoon that fought in the Iraq invasion in 2003. Shortly after returning, and running with what he called a bad crowd, he came into the gym and began training with Hume.

Hume said Fodor’s biggest strength is being mentally tough in the cage, who has done well at pushing and pressuring opponents.

Tonight he’ll be fighting Getzel, who trains with the No Rules Martial Arts team in Andover, Minn. Getzel is 2-1 in his MMA career with both wins being knock outs. His fighting style is Mauy Thai and his trainers say he has solid foot work, with good range for his size.
