The Kirkland Lightning FC team won the Washington State Rec. Cup championships last weekend, beating Silver Lake Gunners 2-1.

The Kirkland Lightning FC team won the Washington State Rec. Cup championships last weekend, beating Silver Lake Gunners 2-1.

The team beat District 3 champions Puyallup Thunder in the quarterfinals with a 1-0 final score. In the semifinals the team beat the Kirkland Huskies in a 2-1 game.

In the championship they faced the Silver Lake team to win the title.

The team consists of eighth graders from Finn Hill Junior High in Kirkland.

The team includes Kyle Ullery, Christian Turner, Cade Totten, Tom Mikkelson, Blake Voutour, James McCool, Jayson Edwards, Tanner O’Rourke, Marito Binag, Brendan Bauer, Qais Najm, Tyler Hill, Ben Zabback, Bjorn Warford, Ben Fries, Jackson Clemenson and Phillip Lavery. They are coached by Eric Ullery, Mike McCool and assistant coach Riley O’Rourke.
