Lake Washington High School hosted the student body of Northstar Junior High School for a DUI reenactment assembly in the football stadium Friday.

The event was performed by the Prevention Action Care Team, or PACT, at Lake Washington High School, in cooperation with the Kirkland Fire and Police departments.

The reenactment included the depiction of a head-on car accident scene, the resulting events and a narration. The event also featured a Northwest Airlift helicopter landing, with police, fire and aid vehicles and personnel on the scene.

Speaker George Jannusch chronicled the events of his experience when his own daughter died in an alcohol-related car accident during the 1980s. Jannusch, who is nearing retirement as the Redmond High School campus security guard, also read a speech detailing the seven-tenths of a second that precedes a person’s death due to a head-on motor-vehicle crash.

The event is intended to educate students on the actual events of a DUI crash and the resulting impacts on individual lives. School councilors were also available for any students to talk with following the assembly.
