To accommodate the parking needs of more visitors at Juanita Beach Park, the city of Kirkland has made room for 50 more spaces on the north side of the park in the lawn area.
The new spaces are located west of the gravel lot on the corner of 97th Avenue Northeast and Juanita Drive.
Even before it came into public ownership in 1956 as a county-owned regional park, Kirkland’s Juanita Beach Park has been a destination beach.
The city assumed ownership of the park in 2002 and completed major renovations in September 2011. Those renovations, which include walking paths, an amphitheater, and new furnishings, have made the park even more popular.
As a means to provide parking throughout the hours the park is open, a new time limit of four hours is now in effect at all lots associated with Juanita Beach Park. As part of its parking enforcement program, the Kirkland Police Department will make daily checks to ensure visitors are complying with the time limit and not parking in handicap spaces.
