The Park to Park Swim is a fun, non-competitive event for a great local cause.

The event, which runs from 7-10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, includes a 1.42 mile swim across Lake Washington, from Matthews Beach in Seattle to O.O. Denny Park in Kirkland.

Participants enter the water in waves based on swim speed. Although there will be plenty of boat support for safety, this event is for strong swimmers who can complete the swim distance in less than two hours. The first (slowest) wave starts at 7:30 a.m.

Cost of registration before July 31 is $45, or $60 from Aug. 1-23 (no event day registration). Registration includes bus transportation, an event T-shirt, a swim cap, breakfast at Denny Park, and a discount at Everyday Athlete during race packet pick-up.

Proceeds from the swim benefit the Emergency Patient Assistance Fund at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
