Northwest University voleyball sweeps Multnomah | College women’s volleyball

The Northwest University volleyball team defeated Multnomah University in straight sets, 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-20) to sweep their weekend road trip to Portland and open 2-0 in Cascade Conference play on Friday.

The Northwest University volleyball team defeated Multnomah University in straight sets, 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-20) to sweep their weekend road trip to Portland and open 2-0 in Cascade Conference play on Friday.

Mattie Jo Johnson led the way with 11 kills and an impressive .917 hitting percentage in the three sets. A quick start in the first set would give the Eagles an 18-8 lead aided by a Johnson and Amanda Waterman kill.

In addition to Johnson’s 11 kills, Amanda Waterman had six kills for Northwest U (6-2, 2-0- CCC), two service aces, hit .600 and teammate Hannah Hanson added five kills with a .571 hitting percentage. Morgan Pilon led the team once again with a team high 21 assists with Leia Roy contributing nine digs for the Eagles.

Multnomah (0-3, 0-2 CCC) was led by Patricia Batoon’s 10 kills and Amanda Rhodes tallied a match high 23 assists.

Northwest U will be at home this weekend hosting Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon on Sept. 11 and 12.
