LW Technical College awards tenure to seven

The Lake Washington Technical College Board of Trustees granted tenure to seven faculty members at their March board meeting.

The seven faculty members and subject areas are Beth Davis of Lynnwood (Dental Hygiene), Marti Garrels of Bothell (Medical Assisting), Seema Jain of Bothell (Dental Assisting), Wes Mantooth of Kirkland (English), Neera Mehta of Seattle, (Counseling), Jerry Peterson of Tacoma (Automotive) and Michael Richmond of Tacoma (Automotive).

“We are extremely proud to have seven of our instructors achieve tenure,” said Sunny Burns, LWTC Vice President of Instruction. “It is a credit to their hard work, their dedication to their students and to the subjects they teach.”

Davis earned an M.S. in Oral Biology from the University of Washington and a B.S. in Education & Business from the Oregon Institute of Technology. She also has an A.S. in Dental Hygiene from the Oregon Institute of Technology. She has a Dental Assisting certificate, is a registered dental assistant, and holds dental hygiene licenses in Washington, Oregon and California.

Garrels has an M.S. in Administration from the University of Notre Dame and a B.S. in Medical Technology from Michigan State University. She is a registered medical technologist and a certified medical assistant.

Jain, a native of New Delhi, India, has an M.A. in Social Work from the University of Delhi, and an A.A.S. in Dental Assisting from Lake Washington Technical College. She holds a certificate of dental assisting.

Mantooth earned his PhD in American Literature from The George Washington University. He has an M.A. in American Studies from Utah State University and a B.A. in English from the University of Washington. He earned an A.A. from Peninsula College in Port Angeles.

Mehta has an M.S. in Psychology from California State University and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of California. She is a licensed Mental Health Counselor.

Peterson holds a Master Automobile Technician Certification and a Certificate of Automotive Service.

Richmond has an A.A.S. in Automotive Technology from Renton Technical College and is an ASE Automotive Master Technician.
