King County Executive Dow Constantine has appointed Terry McLlarky to serve as a King County Housing Authority commissioner. McLlarky was unanimously approved on Oct. 4 by the Metropolitan King County Council. McLlarky replaces Commissioner Delores Brown, who died in February.

Since 2003, McLlarky has been a resident of Casa Juanita, an 80-unit public housing complex for seniors and persons with disabilities located in Kirkland. He has been a member of KCHA’s Resident Advisory Committee for the past five years. He is retired from careers in material control and management information systems.

“I’m delighted by Mr. McLarky’s appointment to the KCHA board,” said Executive Director Stephen Norman. “With an extensive background in public service and active involvement with the Resident Advisory Committee, Mr. McLlarky brings valuable experience and perspective to the board.”

As one of five commissioners, McLlarky will help guide KCHA’s policies and priorities.

“KCHA serves more than 45,000 people every day,” said McLlarky. “That is a humbling notion. Serving on the board affords me the opportunity to be a strong voice for my fellow residents.”

KCHA, an independent municipal corporation established under state law, assists some 18,000 households on a daily basis. The Authority has a staff of 320 and administers an annual budget of more than $170 million that includes rental subsidy, housing management, and affordable development activities.
