Road closures planned for Mother’s Day Half Marathon

Commuters should expect traffic delays due to the Kirkland Mother’s Day Half Marathon event to be held at Juanita Beach Park on Sunday, May 14.

Course impacts will include lane closures and/or delays from approximately 5:00 a.m. until noon. Detours will be in place.

Road closures include:

  • 97th Avenue NE between NE Juanita Drive and NE 120th Street from 5:00 a.m. to noon;
  • Northbound 108th Avenue NE/Sixth Street S from NE 59th Street to the Cross Kirkland Corridor/Fifth Place S from 7:30 to 8 a.m.;
  • Northbound Sixth Street from 10th Avenue to 12th Avenue from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.;
  • Eastbound 12th Avenue from Sixth Street to 110th Avenue NE from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.;
  • Southbound Lakeshore Plaza from Market Street to Kirkland Avenue from 7:45 to 9 a.m.; and
  • NE Juanita Drive between 93rd Avenue NE and 98th Avenue NE from 7:45 a.m. to noon.

Event organizers expect 1,500 athletes to participate in the event, which includes a kids’ dash, 5K run/walk and half marathon run/walk. For more event information, go to explorekirkland.com.
