Man arrested on warrants by police during search for lost cat | Kirkland Police Blotter

The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week. The following is a combination of two weeks of police reports, due to the Thanksgiving deadlines.

Between Nov. 10-22, there were 218 traffic incidents, 46 traffic accidents, seven DUIs, 58 general traffic incidents, 13 incidents involving illegal drugs, 76 alarm calls, 24 abandoned vehicles, 18 burglaries, 17 incidents of fraud, 22 civil incidents, 20 cases of harassment, 44 thefts, 35 vehicle prowls, five vehicle thefts, 32 warrants served, 14 noise complaints, 11 animal calls, 17 incidents of domestic violence, no fireworks complaints, 17 disturbances, two sex offenses, six hit and runs and 44 incidents involving at least one arrest.

Nov. 10

Domestic: 3:31 a.m., 14800 block of 117th Place NE; A police dog assisted in locating a 21-year-old woman suspected of assaulting her 20-year-old boyfriend. The man told police his girlfriend put her knees into his side while in bed. He told her multiple times to stop, so he pushed her away. She responded by hitting him in the face several times, causing injuries. The woman ran from the house prior to police arrival, but was arrested for 4th-degree assault, domestic violence.

Warrants: 12:23 p.m., 10000 block of NE 132nd St.; A 41-year-old man was released from Fairfax Hospital and arrested on his Department of Corrections escape warrant without incident.

Warrants: 11:35 p.m., 10000 block of NE 137th St.; Police contacted a 33-year-old man at the Juanita Safeway and arrested him on his King County warrant for residential burglary and trafficking stolen property, with bail set at $50,000. The man was medically declined at King County Jail and taken to Harborview Medical Center.

Nov. 12

Disorderly: 1:15 p.m., 100 block of Lake Street; A 32-year-old homeless man was arrested for disorderly conduct. He was obstructing traffic, among other issues, and was booked into SCORE.

Theft: 3:30 p.m., 12200 block of 124th Ave. NE; A 45-year-old Massachusetts woman was arrested after stealing razors, memory cards and a hoodie, valued at $60, from Rite Aid. The woman tried to run from loss prevention, but was located at the old Denny’s. The woman had multiple warrants and was transported to county jail.

Nov. 15

Warrants: 12 a.m., 12000 block of 124th Ave. NE; A 51-year-old Burien man was arrested for driving with a revoked or suspended license.

Nov. 16

Domestic: 1:52 a.m., 8000 block of NE 125th St.; Witnesses observed a 45-year-old man punching his girlfriend in the face multiple times during an argument over finances. The man was arrested for 4th-degree assault, domestic violence, and booked into Kirkland jail.

Warrants: 2:58 a.m., 12500 block of 144th St.; A 20-year-old Missouri man was arrested on his Kirkland warrant for driving with a suspended license. He also had a second Kirkland warrant for minor in possession, with total bail combined at $6,000.

Theft: 12:15 p.m., 8600 block of 120th Ave. NE; Costco loss prevention noticed a 55-year-old male cutting open merchandise from its packaging and concealing the stolen electronics. The man left the store without paying and tried to avoid contact with loss prevention by cutting through some bushes, but was located and arrested.

Nov. 17

Domestic: 9:54 p.m., 9600 block of NE 121st Lane; A 54-year-old man was arrested for 4th-degree assault, domestic violence, after assaulting his wife in front of their 11-year-old daughter. The man had threatened suicide by hanging, and was taken to EvergreenHealth for evaluation before being booked into SCORE.

Nov. 18

Warrants: 1:30 am., 10000 block of NE 137th St.; Two men were arrested on misdemeanor warrants at the Juanita McDonalds. A 21-year-old man had a Seattle warrant for reckless driving, and a 49-year-old man had a Tukwila warrant for theft.

Nov. 20

Warrants: 4:48 a.m., 12500 block of NE 145th Place; Two men were contacted as they searched for their missing cat outside a unit at Kingsgate Ridge Apartments. The officer let the men use a police-issued flashlight, but only if they promised neither had a warrant. Unfortunately, one of the men had a Seattle warrant for driving with a suspended license and was arrested. The other man continued to use the flashlight while the warrant was confirmed, but he did not find his cat.

Warrants: 3:03 p.m., 300 block of Kirkland Avenue; Kirkland police responded to a welfare check at the Kirkland Library. A 58-year-old Seattle woman had an injury to the left side of her face and claimed she had been beaten by her husband. The woman was very intoxicated and refused to speak with police. A name check revealed a Kirkland warrant for possession of stolen property, and the woman was arrested and transported to SCORE.

Nov. 21

Warrants: 8:41 p.m., 14400 block of Simonds Road NE; An officer pulled a 21-year-old man over in traffic and discovered the man had a warrant for escaping community custody. The man was arrested without incident.

Nov. 22

DUI: 8:53 p.m., NE 145th Street and 107th Avenue NE; A 39-year-old Bothell woman pulled out in front of a car driven by a 20-year-old Kirkland man, causing a minor collision. Upon police contact, the woman showed signs of intoxication and was arrested after providing a breath sample of .176.

Warrants: 11:40 p.m., 13300 block of 100th Ave. NE; Officers contacted a 27-year-old man at the Juanita 7-11 and arrested him on his felony King County Sheriff warrant for illegal drugs.
