Man arrested for punching police officer, fleeing | Kirkland Police Blotter

Between April 5-11, the Kirkland Police Department reported 487 traffic violations (seven DUIs), two school zone traffic violations, 43 alarm calls, 12 noise complaints, eight calls of disturbance, 19 thefts,

The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.

Between April 5-11, the Kirkland Police Department reported 487 traffic violations (seven DUIs), two school zone traffic violations, 43 alarm calls, 12 noise complaints, eight calls of disturbance, 19 thefts, 19 car prowls, two car thefts, 17 traffic accidents, 12 calls of civil disturbance, three reported burglaries, one report of juvenile crime, 10 domestic violence calls, seven calls for harassment, three alleged assaults, 13 acts of fraud, seven malicious mischief reports, one rape, one robbery, one suicide and one reported sex offense. At least 37 people were arrested.

April 11

Theft: 9:45 p.m., 200 block of Central Way. A 19-year-old man was arrested for theft after he left, not paying for a sandwich he had consumed at a market. As police approached him, he fled but was detained shortly after.

April 10

Car prowl: 3:45 p.m., 9000 block of N.E. 134th St. A 40-year-old man admitted to entering vehicles to look for loose change. He was taken into custody.

April 9

Domestic violence: 2:30 p.m., 12200 block of 95th Pl. N.E. A 39-year-old man was arrested for assault after he allegedly grabbed onto his 41-year-old sister’s wrists. The two were arguing about maintenance of the house and renting it out. Police observed redness on the woman’s arms.

April 8

Domestic violence: 12:40 p.m., 6100 block of 133rd Ave. N.E. A 53-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly assaulting her 33-year-old roommate after a dispute about their living arrangements.

April 7

Trespass: 3:15 a.m., 200 block of 5th Ave. A 29-year-old was taken into custody after entering an unlocked, occupied apartment of a woman and her boyfriend. He then proceeded to remove his shoes. The woman awoke and demanded he leave. He eventually left but returned later. The man was held at the scene by the woman’s boyfriend until police arrived. After he was booked into Kirkland Jail, the man was transported to EvergreenHealth Medical Center for the large “knot” on his head.

Assault: 1:07 p.m., 12000 block of 120th Pl. N.E. A 24-year-old man was arrested for trespassing on Motel 6, evading arrest and assaulting an officer. Motel 6 reported the unwanted man in one of its rooms, but when police arrived, the man punched an officer in the ear and fled. One taser dart made contact with the man, but he continued to run, ending up on I-405. Police chased him to Fred Meyers where he was detained. The man had a felony department of corrections warrant.

April 6

Domestic violence: 4:42 p.m., 8500 block of 126th Ave. N.E. A 45-year-old woman was arrested after physically assaulting her 56-year-old boyfriend of two months. She was also charged with damaging his personal property.

April 5

Domestic violence: 9:56 p.m., 9900 block of N.E. 126th St. A 28-year-old man allegedly assaulted his 30-year-old girlfriend of two years at their apartment. After the assault, the woman ran out of the apartment and called 911 but her boyfriend threw the cell phone into a nearby creek and fled on foot.

Assault: 1:15 p.m., 9800 block of N.E. 125th Ln. A 17-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly assaulting his 41-year-old father by punching him on the head and torso. After police found him, he denied the assault but was arrested on fourth-degree assault.
