Firefighters control small blaze at surgery center

There were no injuries reported.

Kirkland firefighters were dispatched to Proliance Eastside Surgery Center and quickly controlled a small fire contained within an overheated piece of machinery.

The machinery emitted large amounts of smoke which caused an evacuation. Two post-operative surgery patients were escorted out without incident.

Fire department and Puget Sound Energy personnel confirmed that the air quality was within normal limits before the building, located on the 12900 block of 120th Ave. NE, was reopened.

Kirkland Fire personnel were assisted by units from the Bothell and Redmond Fire Departments. There were no injuries to the building’s staff, patients or firefighters.
