The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.

Between Dec. 6-12, the Kirkland Police Department reported 489 traffic violations, five DUIs, 18 school zone traffic violations, six animal calls, 33 alarm calls, eight noise complaints, three juvenile crimes, six calls of disturbance, 12 thefts, six car prowls, four car thefts, 15 traffic accidents, eight calls of civil disturbance, 14 reported burglaries, seven domestic violence calls, six calls for harassment, one report of illegal drugs, four alleged assaults, seven acts of fraud, 12 malicious mischief reports and four suicide calls. At least 39 people were arrested.

Dec. 10

Theft: 9 p.m., 12221 120th Ave. NE. A 50-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting alcohol and food she consumed on the premises of Fred Meyer. An employee witnessed the woman make a mess of the Slurpee machine. When police contacted the woman at the deli, she was highly intoxicated. The woman allowed police to search her new suitcase where they found more than $200 worth of partially consumed vodka. A preliminary breath test revealed a .305 blood alcohol level. She was taken to EvergreenHealth Medical Center before being booked into jail.

Dec. 9

Burglary: 12:30 a.m., 10000 block of 126th Ave. NE. A 49-year-old man was arrested for burglarizing his 38-year-old ex-girlfriend’s home. He accessed the home by sliding under a garage door that was left partially open for her cats. He stole a Jeebik bag, a jade necklace, a bead bracelet, a folded American flag and two bottles of Wellbutrin. He subsequently texted the woman and said she might be able to get her stuff back if she paid him the money she owed him.

Theft: 11:45 a.m., 6625 132nd Ave. NE. A 43-year-old woman was arrested for stealing assorted groceries from the Red Apple Market.

Dec. 8

Domestic violence: 7:30 p.m., 13100 block of 129th Ave. NE. A 46-year-old man was arrested for head-butting his wife during an argument at their home. Police found the man and arrested him at Motel 6. The man also had a felony warrant for “possession of depictions of minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct in the first degree.”

Dec. 7

Assault: 12:20 a.m., 9700 block of NE 120th Place. A 24-year-old man was arrested for assaulting the bouncer of Juanita Pub by kicking him in the groin and spitting in his face.

Disorderly conduct: 12:59 a.m., 9700 block of 110th Ave. NE. A 46-year-old man was arrested after several citizens complained that he was yelling, screaming and urinating on the sidewalk. The man was upset that his son was arrested for assault moments earlier (see above). The man was highly intoxicated and noncompliant with police. Both he and his son had been drinking at the Juanita Pub.

Domestic violence: 14100 block of 104th Place NE. A 35-year-old man was arrested for punching his wife in the face, knocking her tooth loose, after she picked him up from La Corona restaurant. His wife pulled over to calm him down and then drove home. As soon as they got home, she ran from the car to call police. The man attempted to follow but his intoxication and MS caused him to fall in the driveway.

Warrant: 3:29 p.m., 13300 block of 105th Ave. NE. A 47-year-old man was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant police responded to a complaint of a tree being cut down.

Assault: 11:30 p.m., 12500 block of NE 144th St. A 23-year-old man was arrested for punching a man in the head at the Caribbean Casino.

Dec. 6

Domestic violence: 6:40 p.m., 9900 block of NE 124th St. A 17-year-old girl was arrested for scratching a 20-year-old man’s arms with her fingernails when he attempted to leave.

Malicious mischief: 7:25 p.m., 13100 block of NE 132nd St. A 16-year-old boy, who lives at Friends of Youth, was arrested for “mule kicking” the front door until the door frame broke. One of the staff members told the boy he would drop a level, a system that tracks daily behavior, due to his continual swearing. Angered by this, the boy went outside and defaced the property. He fled the scene but officers found him a block away.

Assault: 11:30 p.m., 1800 block of Fourth St. A 21-year-old man was arrested for striking a 55-year-old man with a wrench three times. The victim sustained minor injuries.
