Ben Franklin second graders visit Kirkland City Hall

On May 5, 75 second graders from Ben Franklin Elementary School got an inside look at what it’s like to work for the City of Kirkland.

At Kirkland City Hall, the students conducted a mock Kirkland City Council meeting, led by Councilmember Toby Nixon, Councilmember Jon Pascal and city staff. They also heard what it’s like to be a police officer from Kirkland Police Department staff.

The students then visited Fire Station 22 in the Central Houghton Neighborhood and learned all about a firefighter’s role in keeping the community safe from the Kirkland Fire Department.
