A slow start for the Juanita High School volleyball team cost the Rebels as they took on Lake Washington at home on Wednesday.

A slow start for the Juanita High School volleyball team cost the Rebels as they took on Lake Washington at home on Wednesday. The Kangs won the battle of Kirkland teams 3-1.

Lake Washington won the first game 25-11 before Juanita woke up during the second game. But the Kangs momentum pushed them through the second-game charge, 25-23.

The Rebels kept the pressure on during the third game, winning 26-24 but Lake Washington ended the comeback attempt with a fourth-game victory, 25-20.

Rebel Sarah Brennan led all offensive players with 22 kills, while Lake Washington player Georgia Romine-Black finished with 19 kills.

Kang Sarah Wingard collected 41 assists during the contest and Brennan led all defenders during the game with 14 digs.

Lake Washington will travel to Sammamish High School in Bellevue for a 7 p.m. game on Monday, while Juanita will host Liberty at 7 p.m. on Monday.
