Northwest University signs two for Eagle volleyball team

Northwest University’s head volleyball coach, Steven Bain, announced two student-athletes have signed letters of intent to attend the university and play for the Eagles in the 2015 season. Alysanne Van Dyke of Edmonds is a transfer from Calvin College and Sarah Warner of Olympia is a senior at Tumwater High School.

Alysanne Van Dyke of Edmonds is a transfer from Calvin College and Sarah Warner of Olympia is a senior at Tumwater High School.

“The addition of Alysanne and Sarah to our 2015 recruiting class will add depth and versatility to the line-up and will continue to elevate the competitive level in our practices,” Bain said.

Van Dyke, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter, played her prep volleyball at King’s High School in Seattle and was a team captain in her junior and senior years. She was also a two-time Cascade Conference MVP. An outstanding student, Van Dyke was also a member of the National Honor Society at King’s. She played one season at Calvin, a NCAA Division III school located in Grand Rapids, Mich., and perennial D-III volleyball power. Van Dyke will be a Communications major at Northwest U.

Sarah Warner, also a 5-foot-10 outside hitter, will graduate from Tumwater High School and was a member of the Thunderbirds 2014 WIAA State 2A championship team. The T-Birds also won the 2014 Evergreen Conference title under head coach, Tana Otton. She was named first team, All-Evergreen Conference and the Olympian All-Area Team in 2014. A team captain at THS, Warner also maintained a 4.0 grade point average.

Northwest University is located in Kirkland.
