Lake Washington, Juanita swimmers wrap up season at state

Juanita High senior Charie Kullman finished 12th overall in the 100-yard butterfly at the Class 3A Swim and Dive State Championships on Feb. 18 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

Kullman qualified for the B final with the 10th-best time from preliminaries.

The Lake Washington 200-yard freestyle relay team — Jake Rinehart, Kyle Terao, Jeremiah Dunbar and Stephen McKinney — made finals and finished 14th in 1 minutes 33.03 seconds.

The Lake Washington 200 medley relay team — Will Reeves, Rinehart, Oliver Norred and Dunbar, made finals and placed 15th overall.

Lake Washington sophomore Hayes Raubacher narrowly missed the 500 freestyle finals, placing 17th in the prelims by just over five seconds.

Juanita sophomore Kyle McWhirter made the semifinals of the diving competition, but was about 21 points shy of making the finals. McWhirter finished 18th overall.

Bainbridge won the Class 3A title with 369 points. Bellevue finished second with 351 and Mercer Island was third with 193. Lake Washington scored 10 points for a 25th-place finish, while Juanita came in 30th with five points.
