The Lake Washington Division II boys lacrosse team punched their ticket to the state semifinals after holding off Snohomish last Friday for a 10-9 win.

The Kangs almost lost the game, but the strong defensive duo of Stephen Peppes and Mike Ericson held them off to keep Lake Washington’s state dreams alive.

“It was a great game,” said head coach Greg Butler. “We really played well, but almost let them steal the game from us. They have an amazing face off specialist.”

The Kangs had a 4-2 lead in the first quarter, but Snohomish closed to lead to 5-4 by the half. Lake Washington had five goals during the third for a 10-5 lead, but Snohomish surged surging the fourth to narrow the game to just one goal.

Jake Bernstein had four goals during the game, while his brother Cody Bernstein added four of his own. Goalie Luke Lattin had 12 saves for the Kangs during the win.

The Kangs will now face San Juan in the state semi-finals on Wednesday, May 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Lake Washington High School. The winner of the semifinal game will go on to the state championship against the winner of the Wenatchee/Lynnwood game, which also takes place on Wednesday evening.
