Lake Washington boys lacrosse falls short of state finals, loses to San Juan

The Lake Washington boys Division II lacrosse season came to a close on Wednesday night after losing 9-8 to San Juan in the state semifinals.

The Lake Washington boys Division II lacrosse season came to a close on Wednesday night after losing 9-8 to San Juan in the state semifinals.

The first year lacrosse team dominated throughout the season, but couldn’t rally past a late deficit to make an appearance at the Division II state finals.

The game kicked off with a goal for each during the first quarter and before San Juan jumped to a 6-5 lead going into the half. The Kangs outscored the Dragons in the third, 2-1 to tie the game at 7 points apiece going into the last 12 minutes of play.

San Juan held a 9-7 lead going into the final moments of the game, as the Kang’s Jake Bernstein score with 1:31 left to play for a 9-8 game. Lake Washington won the final draw and Cody Bernstein headed toward the goal, but two shots in the last minute were saved by Calen Mayer for San Juan.

San Juan moves on to face Lynnwood in the finals on Saturday.

Jake Bernstein had three goals overall, Trevor Watkins added two, while Ben Anderson had a goal, as did Quentin Behr annd Carson Brown. Goalie Luke Latin had 11 saves during the game.

Lake Washington finished the season with a 13-0 league record and was 13-2 overall.
