The game started off with a seven points tie at the end of the first quarter, but Juanita quickly expanded their lead, scoring nine points in the second quarter, while holding the Islanders to just two points.

In the second half, things speeded up, with Juanita scoring 16 points, while Mercer Island hit 14. In the final minutes of the match, the Rebels scored 19 points, and Mercer Island had eight.

Kate Cryderman had 18 points during the game for the Rebels, with Molly Grager hitting 12. Mikayla Jones had nine overall, with Bre Carter hitting five. Winnie Levitt scored three points, followed by Shannon Brink and McKenzie Waltar both scoring two.

For the Islanders, Savanna Reid had the team high with 11 points, while Ari Moscatel and Renae Tessem each scored six. Carly Andersen, Brooke Behrbaum, Suri Johnson and Jamie Mounger all scored two points.

The next night, in a make up game, the Islanders beat Sammamish 57-39.

The Rebels traveled to Lake Washington on Saturday, Jan. 28, losing 43-38.

The Kangs outscored the Rebels, 13-11 in the first quarter, followed by a 16-9 second quarter, giving Lake Washington a 29-20 lead at the half.

After the break, Juanita gained some momentum, hitting 10 points in the third quarter, but it was followed by an 8-6 fourth quarter to give Lake Washington the win.

Hunter Hopkins had 19 points for the Kangs, a game high, while Peyton Wozeniak hit 12 points. Cassie Lively scored six for Lake Washington, Margo Lynott had three points, Whitney Dunlap scored two and Sara Wilson hit one.

For the Rebels, Cryderman had 15 points, Jones had nine, Bre Carter posted eight points, Waltar had four and Grager had two.

Prior to the game against Juanita on Saturday, the Kangs went to Bellevue on Friday night. The team won 47-40.

Bellevue had the upper hand at the end of the first half, out scoring the Kangs 23-18. In the third quarter, however, the Kangs turned things around, scoring 17 points, while keeping the Wolverines to 12 and hitting 12 in the fourth quarter to take the game.

Wozeniak had the team’s high of 16 points against Bellevue, while Hopkins scored 12, Wilson had nine, Dunlap hit six and both Claire Anderson and Lively had two.
