Kirkland 9U baseball team erases 14-1 deficit to win regional baseball tournament

The Lake Washington Select Baseball Club baseball team captured the championship for the 9U division in the Pat Downs Foundation tournament, hosted April 10-12 at the Northshore Athletic Fields in Woodinville.

The Lake Washington Select Baseball Club baseball team captured the championship for the 9U division in the Pat Downs Foundation tournament, hosted April 10-12 at the Northshore Athletic Fields in Woodinville.

During the championship game, LW faced the Duvall Bombers, which had provided the Kirkland team its only defeat in a close 7-6 game earlier in the weekend. Down 14-1 after the third inning, LW’s bats came alive. LW scored 15-unanswered runs and combined great pitching and defense to shut down Duvall. The result was a stunning 16-14 victory.

Lake Washington earned a place in the championship by finishing 2-1 in pool play, with a 12-0 win over the Woodinville Falcons and 6-3 victory over the Bothell Cougars.

The LW Select Baseball Club will look to build on the win when they play next in the elite Seattle Memorial Day Tournament.

The LW Select Baseball Club 9U team includes Ben Cooney, Jake Ferullo, Brett Jajewski, Carter Green, Carter Calkin, Cash Erdman, Cooper Neilson, Carsen Mann, Kai Weeks, Logan Norris, Matteo Droz, Zach Hudson, Nico Toungate, Ramsey Yoshida and Nate Hudson.
