Tuesday evening the Rebels defeated the Islanders 1-0 in a conference match. Haili Adams scored for Juanita in the 70th minute of the game after a long fought battle on both sides. Juanita is currently 7-2 in league play and 8-3 overall, currently holding the No. 2 spot in KingCo 3A/2A. They travel to Bellevue on Thursday.
Lake Washington soccer falls to Mercer Island
The Kangs soccer team suffered a defeat at the hands of the Mercer Island Islanders last Thursday, falling 2-1 in a conference match.
Lake Washington, which is 3-5 (3-7) this season, couldn’t get through the Islanders defense to score a tying goal in the second half. Mercer Island’s Taylor Abrass scored the first goal of the night in the 29th minute and the game remained a 1-0 match until Emma Holm scored her ninth goal of the season, the most in KingCo, in the 52 minute. Holm was assisted by Amy Johnson and Jessie Zogg. But Mercer Island untied the game with a Lauren Frank, Abrass combo goal in the 71st minute to give the Islanders the win.
The Kangs played Interlake and Mount Si this week and will face Liberty and Sammamish in the next two weeks.
