The Juanita girls volleyball team ended the regular season this week and begin their postseason hunt tonight, with the KingCo tournament.

The Juanita girls volleyball team ended the regular season this week and begin their postseason hunt tonight, with the KingCo tournament.

Last Monday the team beat Liberty 3-0 in an away contest, before hosting Interlake last Wednesday, winning again 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-22). With the final win of the regular season against rival Lake Washington the Rebels secured the No. 2 spot for the KingCo tournament.

Against Interlake, the front line all contributed kills with Lily Cole having nine, Alex Gollersrud having five and Dana Michels put down 14 kills along with seven digs. Jade Finau distributed 28 assists along with seven digs. On defense, Candace Cromer had 15 digs and Elizabeth Tran and Hannah Heltman both had five digs.

Juanita closed out the regular season Monday night at home with a 3-0 victory over the Kangs (25-18, 25-19, 25-20). Junior Dana Michels had 11 kills and nine defensive digs. Sophmore setter Jade Finau set up 31 assists, also had nine digs and three serving aces as well. Senior Lily Cole had five kills and 5 digs and senior Candace Cromer had nine digs.

The team is 11-3 overall this season.

The KingCo tournament, which will be held at Sammamish High School tonight and Saturday, Oct. 30, the Rebels will play their first game at 7:30 p.m. against the winner of the Mercer Island, Lake Washington match. With a win the Rebels would move into the championship game, a loss would push the team into the consolation bracket, but with a guaranteed spot at the district tournament next weekend.

Lake Washington volleyball heads into KingCo tournament

The Lady Kangs split their final week of the regular season before the beginning of the postseason, which starts tonight.

Last Wednesday, Lake Washington beat Sammamish in a 3-0 league contest. The Kangs Kathy Bermudez had 11 assists during the match. The following Monday the team traveled to Juanita, falling 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-20).

The team finished the regular season with a 5-9 record in league and 5-10 overall.

Entering KingCo as the No. 6 team, Lake Washington faces Mercer Island on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. at Sammamish High School. The winner of the match will go on to play Juanita in the semi-finals at 7:30 p.m. Friday night. The top four teams in the KingCo tournament move on to the SeaKing district tournament next weekend.
