Juanita girls track team finishes ninth, Coker wins triple jump

It was a stellar weekend for members of the Juanita girls track team. The team as a whole finished ninth overall with 32 points, and sophomore Alanna Coker earned a state title in the girls triple jump competition.

It was a stellar weekend for members of the Juanita girls track team. The team as a whole finished ninth overall with 32 points, and sophomore Alanna Coker earned a state title in the girls triple jump competition.

Coker won the triple jump with a leap of 36’01.75, one of four events she participated in at state. Her teammate Rachel Richardson was eighth in the triple jump with a final of 33’01.25.

Coker also finished fifth in the 200-meter race with a time of 26.21 seconds and was third in the long jump at 17’04.75. She did not qualify for the finals in the 400-meter race with a 10th place finish in the prelims at 1:00.72.

Junior Tansey Lystad finished the 3,200-meter race in fourth place with a time of 10 minutes and 39.88 seconds. Lystad was also fourth in the 1,600-meter race at 4:56.52. Sabrina Grande-Bawab, a senior, took eighth in the girls shot put competition, throwing 35’06.25. Molly Grange took 11th overall in the girls high jump competition clearing 5’00.

The only boys to compete for the Rebels were the 4×100 team of Austin Hilliker, Nicholas Coker, Jeremiah Laufasa and Travis Marshall, who finished the preliminaries in 13th place with a time of 44.54 seconds.
