Juanita girls rally for big comeback in opener

The Juanita girls basketball team rallied for a big fourth-quarter comeback Tuesday to beat 4A Redmond 58-56 during the season opener. The home-team Mustangs held an 11-point lead coming out of the third quarter, but Juanita would score 22 points during the fourth period, as much as they scored during the entire first half, to complete the comeback.

The Rebels needed the run as they started extremely slow, scoring just six first-quarter points. The Rebels were led during the contest by Kate Cryderman with 17 points and Amanda Wilson with 11. Redmond’s Chandler Jones led all scorers with 23 points.

Juanita will host Glacier Peak at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and then travel to Inglemoor for a 6:30 p.m. game Friday.
