Juanita boys beat Redmond in season opener

The Juanita High School boys basketball team got off to a good start Tuesday as they defeated 4A Redmond 54-41 during the season opener.

The Rebels were led by strong defense and Ryon Cunnigan on offense, as they held the Mustangs to single digits during the second and third quarters. That defensive effort gave Juanita High School an insurmountable 47-27 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The Rebels were led by Cunnigan’s 22 points, while Kris Otterholt, who returned from a football injury early, added 11 points. Juanita will travel to Bothell Wednesday and Inglemoor on Friday. Both have 7:30 p.m. tip offs.
