Falling just one game short of the KingCo tournament title game, the Juantia girls basketball team lost to Liberty 53-44 on Tuesday night.

Liberty controled the game from the first quarter, getting up 19-12 in the first, followed by a 13-9 outscoring of Juanita in the second. While the Rebels had an 18 point third quarter, it wasn’t enough to erase the first half and give the team the lead.

Molly Grager had 12 points in the game, while Kate Cryderman and Mikalya Jones each put up nine for the team. Taylor Paddock had seven and Tayler Lloyd had four while Bre Carter had three.

With the loss, the team moved into the consolation bracket of the tournament to determine which team will be seeded as the No. 3 and No. 4 team going into the SeaKing district tournament. The Rebels will face Mercer Island, a team the Rebels split their regular season meetings with this year.

The game will be played Thursday, at 4:45 p.m. at Bellevue College.
