Eagles win on second of the day in Butte tournament | College volleyball

The Northwest University (NU) volleyball team opened the Big Sky Challenge with two straight wins including a hard fought 3-1 (24-26, 25-23, 25-23, 25-17) victory over the University of Great Falls during its evening match on Friday. NU opened tournament play with a 3-0 straight set sweep of Dickinson State of North Dakota earlier in the day.

The Northwest University (NU) volleyball team opened the Big Sky Challenge with two straight wins including a hard fought 3-1 (24-26, 25-23, 25-23, 25-17) victory over the University of Great Falls during its evening match on Friday. NU opened tournament play with a 3-0 straight set sweep of Dickinson State of North Dakota earlier in the day.

Great Falls opened the match with a narrow 26-24 first set win over the Eagles, but NU bounced back to win the next three sets for the win over the Argonauts from the Frontier Conference.

Dakota Adams led Northwest U (2-1) with a match high 17 kills, hitting an impressive .810. Amanda Waterman added 11 kills and seven digs while Mattie Jo Johnson hit .238 with her 10 kills. Morgan Pilon had a match high 17 assists and Leia Roy finished with a team high 18 digs. NU hit .267 as a team.

Great Falls (2-3) was led by Madison Wilhelm’s 13 kills and 17 digs for the double-double. Kennedy Chadwick had a match high 20 digs and Dani Norling had 11 assists and seven digs for the Argos from Montana.
