City council incumbent Dave Asher will have plenty of company during the August 16 run-off election as three candidates filed for Position No. 6 on Friday.

One of the most notable is former council candidate Martin Morgan, who ran against current Kirkland Mayor Joan McBride in 2009. Morgan is a Rose Hill resident.

Scott Galbraith becomes the third resident from the annexation area to file for a council position and the first from Finn Hill. Galbraith joins Kingsgate residents Toby Nixon, who is running against Jessica Greenway for Position No.  4, and Jason Gardiner, who is running against Bob Sternoff for Position No. 2.

Jim Hart, a Houghton neighborhood resident, also filed to run against Asher. The incumbent has a jump on all of his challengers with nearly $10,000 raised so far in his re-election campaign. Greenway has raised the most money of any candidate thus far with over $11,000.

King County Council member Jane Hague, who is running for re-election, also has a third challenger, Patsy Bonincontri. The Bellevue resident joins Kirkland resident John Creighton and Mercer Island resident Richard E. Mitchell in challenging Hague for the sixth-district seat.
