The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.

Between July 14-20, the Kirkland Police Department reported 466 traffic violations (six DUIs), 21 traffic accidents, 16 noise complaints, 11 thefts, seven domestic violence calls, 23 alarms, 10 motor vehicle prowls, 14 burglaries, 17 disturbances, five cases of fraud, six harassment calls, nine malicious mischief cases, seven civil issues, one assault and four animal control calls. At least 36 people were arrested.

July 20

Warrant arrest: 10:02 p.m., 100 Central Way. An officer contacted a 22-year-old Bothell man and arrested him in connection with an outstanding warrant for negligent driving.

Marijuana: 12:45 a.m., 200 Central Way. A 40-year-old Kirkland man was stopped for a traffic violation and found to have an outstanding no bail warrant out of the US Marshals Office. The man consented to a search of the vehicle and 2.92 grams of marijuana were found.

Malicious mischief: 9:11 p.m., 230 Main Street. A Sterling Savings Bank employee reported damage to the ATM video camera face plate that occurred on June 17. The video shows a young white male. Damage estimate was $500.

Trespass: 6:04 p.m., 202 Third Street. A 21-year-old man was arrested for criminal trespass after being at the Peter Kirk Park.

July 19

Vandalism: 7:41 a.m., 800 Second Ave. A man had his entire blue 1998 BMW two-door coupe keyed overnight. Every panel of the car was keyed in an extremely malicious fashion.

July 17

Warrant arrest: 12:19 a.m., 12200 block of N.E. 124th Street. A male and female contacted at a gas station were subsequently arrested on outstanding warrants.

Warrant arrest: 1:36 p.m., 11724 N.E. 60th Street. A 62-year-old Woodinville man became upset when he was asked by a Houghton Recycling Center employee to separate his paper and cardboard. The employee feared that the man would become violent and called the police. On arrival is was determined that nothing more than a verbal altercation had taken place. The man was found to have a $2,000 warrant for his arrest and taken into custody.

Hit-and-run: 3:30 p.m., 8500 124th Ave. N.E. A woman called police after a 64-year-old Kirkland man in a 2001 silver Dodge pickup struck the back of her car and then fled the scene. The woman reported a partial license plate. Police contacted the man and his truck a short distance away at his residence and was a later positively identified by the victim. The man stated that he didn’t think he struck the woman’s car but was arrested.

Warrant arrest: 4:22 p.m., 7500 block of 132nd Ave. N.E. A person affiliated with Tent City called the Kirkland Police Department for a check prior to obtaining residency in Tent City. A subsequent check of his name provided that he had a felony warrant out of Tacoma for failing to register as a sex offender. The man was taken into custody and transported to the King County Jail.

July 16

Assist: 10:10 a.m., 11515 N.E. 118th Street. A man was taken into custody by order of the court for a 90 day sentence.

July 14

Theft: 10:40 p.m., 10700 block of N.E. 68th Street. A 44-year-old Bellevue man was arrested for shoplifting.

Malicious Mischief: 12 p.m., 5900 110th Ave. N.E. A mailbox was forcibly removed from a bank of mail boxes and damaged.

Forgery: 5:48 p.m., 10800 block of 113th Court N.E. A Kirkland resident’s credit card was compromised and the suspect used it to send two flower arrangements via the internet. The flowers, $72 worth, were delivered. The company refunded the money and the credit card was canceled.
