Streets to be closed for Kirkland Triathlon this weekend

The annual Kirkland Triathlon will take place Sept. 19-20 and host 1,500 athletes.

All of those people have to go somewhere and some streets will be closed to traffic.

From approximately 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, Sept. 19 Lake Washington Boulevard will be closed between Lakeview Drive and N.E. 60th Street for the Kid’s Triathlon.

From approximately 5-11 a.m., on Sunday, Sept. 20, the street will be closed between Lakeview Drive and N.E. 62nd Street.

From 7-11 a.m., or until the final athlete completes the race, Carillon Point will only be accessible by approaching from the south on Lake Washington Boulevard.

The following roads will be closed due to the biking portion of the competition:

• Southbound lane of Lake Washington Boulevard from Kirkland Ave. to Carillon Point Drive.

• Southbound lane of Kirkland Avenue through Marina Park (Lake Shore Plaza Drive)

• Southbound lane of Market Street between Marina Park and Waverly Way

• Eastbound lane of Waverly Way from Market Street to 6th St. West

• Southbound lane of Lakeview Drive N.E. from State Street to Lake Washington Boulevard.

The following roads will be closed due to the running portion of the competition:

• Northbound lane of Lake Washington Boulevard from N.E. 38th Place to Carillon Point Drive

• Westbound lane of N.E. 38th Place from 108th Ave. N.E. to Lake Washington Boulevard.
