The Solarize Kirkland program will present its last workshop on an affordable way to set a home up with rooftop solar energy on Oct. 11 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Kirkland City Hall.

The program is a partnership among the City of Kirkland, Pacific Northwest Pollution Prevention Resource Center, Northwest Electric & Solar, NW SEED, Puget Sound Energy, and community volunteers. Since June of 2015, the project’s efforts have resulted in 59 contracts for 353kW sold and 55 jobs installed for 326kW of clean, renewable energy.

Last year, in recognition of the great community response, NW Electric and Solar donated a solar array to Friends of Youth to offset the costs of operating their headquarters building. This year, if the project hits its target of 65 contracts, NW Electric and Solar will donate a solar array to Attain Housing, a local nonprofit that provides housing and support services for homeless families.
