The search effort for a missing 23-year-old Kirkland resident who disappear after a weekend of rafting on the Klickitat River has been suspended indefinitely, according to the Klickitat County Sheriff's Office.

Christopher Dube went missing just before 8 p.m. on Saturday after he went underwater near Lyle Falls, according to the sheriff’s office.

He was rafting with a group of friends when his individual raft was overturned in rapids. Dube’s friends searched for him but called for help when they couldn’t find him.

The sheriff’s office stated that section of the river is particularly treacherous.

Deputies and SAR volunteers searched for Dube overnight and into Monday morning, but were unable to locate him.

Dube is a Juanita neighborhood resident, member of the St. John Vianney Church in Kirkland and is a photographer.
