PSE contractor reportedly electrocuted, sent to Harborview

Puget Sound Energy has confirmed that a contractor came into contact with electrical equipment near the Juanita Substation in Kirkland this morning. The worker was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

PSE officials would not confirm the contractor’s condition but the worker was reportedly electrocuted. Emergency responders, including Kirkland and Redmond fire fighters, found the worker with electrical burns.

Neighbors reported hearing a “loud boom” around 10:30 a.m. and then seeing emergency rescue vehicles arrive a short time later.

“We heard and felt a very loud boom followed by yelling,” said neighbor, Michael Heslop. “I looked out my backyard to see all of the emergency vehicles congregating across the street from the substation.”

A neighbor notified the Reporter that workers on the scene stated that the contractor was electrocuted while in the process of running new lines to the substation.

The Reporter will update the story when more information is available.
