From Jan. 21-27, the Kirkland Police Department reported 330 traffic violations (7 DUIs), 24 alarm calls, 18 thefts, 18 car accidents, 15 assaults (11 domestic violence) and 11 vehicle prowls. At least 42 people were arrested.

Jan. 21

CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: 2:07 a.m., 11000 block of 124th Street. A 21-year-old female motorist driving a white 1988 Lincoln Continental was arrested for driving with a suspended license and possession of a small quantity of marijuana.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: 6:30 p.m., 9100 block of 126th Ave. N.E. A resident alleged they were assaulted in their home my a person living with them. The case remains under investigation.

Jan. 22

MINOR IN POSSESSION: 12:10 a.m., 11600 block of 124th Ave. N.E. Police arrested an 18-year-old Bothell girl at the AM/PM gas station for consuming alcohol. Two other individuals from Redmond and Woodinville were released without charge.

Jan. 23

FIRE: 8:21 a.m., 11605 132nd Ave. N.E. Authorities investigated a morning fire alarm at the Lake Washington Technical College. The alarm was triggered inside the horticulture building, previously targeted in a number of previous burglaries and prowler incidents. No property was reported missing on this occasion.

Jan. 24

SHOPLIFTING: 12:00 p.m., 8629 120th Ave. N.E. Costco security stopped a 52-year-old female resident they suspected of shoplifting a cashmere sweater and women’s underwear, reportedly worth $80. The suspect claimed she could not afford to buy the items, but police located over $200 in her purse. She was arrested, cited and later released.

Jan. 25

MENTAL: 3:00 p.m., 3000 block of 101st Lane N.E. Witnesses allege an unidentified person displayed a disturbed mental behavior and contacted police. The individual was transported to an medical facility.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: 3:40 p.m., 300 block of 17th Avenue. A female resident alleged her boyfriend assaulted her, causing minor injuries. The 36-year-old local man was booked at the municipal jail for 4th degree domestic violence assault.

Jan. 26

VEHICLE PROWL: 11:50 a.m., 100 block of Lake Street South. Returning to his parked Chevrolet pickup truck, a 24-year-old Woodinville man discovered a stranger sitting in the cab, drinking beer. Police later arrested the 40-year-old Tacoma man for vehicle prowling, theft and acting as a public menace.
