The public is invited to stop by My Home Furniture and Décor store this Friday and Saturday for delicious hot dogs, prize drawings and more as the furniture and decor store celebrates its first year in Kirkland.

Enter to win an entire living room, or a drawing to have your mortgage paid for a year. There will be tons of balloon-popping prizes, with winnings from $10-$100.

The celebration runs during store hours, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 24-25 at My Home Wholesale, located at 11700 NE 118th St. in Kirkland.

Since the store opened last year, My Home has seen a boost in sales this year.

“I believe we can actually attribute our rise in sales to the down-turned economy,” said Merlin Smith, store owner. “Our customers have made so many sacrifices in other areas of their lives, they are finding that they are spending much more time at home, and are clearly making more of an investment in their surroundings where they have chosen to nest. In speaking with many of our customers, we are hearing that they are vacationing less and becoming a lot more reserved in many of their spending habits, but we certainly aren’t feeling the effects of that when it comes to their relationship with our store.”

When it comes to accessories, the My Home Furniture and Décor store offers an incredible amount of options, says Smith. The My Home store’s 103,000 square feet boasts itself as one of the largest showrooms in the state.

“We love being centralized on the Eastside in Kirkland,” said Smith, “and that is why we’re very excited to have renewed our lease with the city when they recently purchased the property. I think part of our success is recognizing we are not selling furniture; we are selling lifestyle. Our enormous gallery of designer suites helps our clients to imagine what is possible in their own lives.”

And Smith knows a lot about what is possible in life. He also owns Applied Art Concepts, a manufacturer of art and mirrors that was Costco Home’s largest distributor. Last year when Costco decided to close its doors, Smith saw a great opportunity and took over the business.

The continues to support the vendors who previously sold in the Costco location as well as offers one of the largest varieties of style and assortment at a great value.

My Home is currently planning Kirkland’s first Home Show, set for November.
