Man suffers chipped teeth, bite wound in attack | Kirkland Police Blotter

Between May 31 to June 6, the Kirkland Police Department reported 449 traffic violations (six DUIs), 15 school zone traffic violations, 23 traffic accidents, nine animal calls, 34 alarm calls,

The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers.

The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.

Between May 31 to June 6, the Kirkland Police Department reported 449 traffic violations (six DUIs), 15 school zone traffic violations, 23 traffic accidents, nine animal calls, 34 alarm calls, 28 noise complaints, eight calls of disturbance, 24 thefts, nine car prowls, six car thefts, 13 calls of civil disturbance, three reported burglaries, seven domestic violence calls, eight calls for harassment, five reports of illegal drugs, seven alleged assaults, seven acts of fraud, five malicious mischief reports, one juvenile crime and two suicides. At least 32 people were arrested.

June 5

Assault: 9:50 p.m., 14500 block of 124th Ave. NE. A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody after he allegedly attacked his roommates at the Woodinville Treatment Center. An 18-year-old man as a result had six chipped teeth, a swollen and bruised lip, a bite wound and numerous abrasions. The other victim, a 17-year-old man, had facial injuries and abrasions.

Domestic violence: 1 a.m., 11900 block of NE 81st Circle. A 19-year-old man was arrested for choking his common law 22-year-old wife. After he drunkenly came home late, he called police to report she attacked him by scratching his face and back before leaving to her mother’s house. When the woman was contacted, she told police the man had thrown her phone across the room after finding an unknown phone number to which she slapped him and was choked in return. Police observed bruises on her neck.

Domestic violence: 6 p.m., 10000 block of NE 130th Ln. A 20-year-old man was arrested for slapping his 22-year-old boyfriend in the face during an argument.

June 4

Theft: 2:38 a.m., 12500 block of NE 85th St. A 19-year-old man was arrested after fleeing the Rose Hill Safeway grocery store for stealing food and two bottles of alcohol. An hour after he stole the tequila and wine, he returned the alcohol but was apprehended. He was charged with a minor in possession, third-degree theft and obstructing a police officer.

Theft: 4:25 p.m., 10000 block of NE 137th St. A 27-year-old man was cited for stealing the DVD “Warm Bodies,” an egg roll, pizza sticks, a Mountain Dew and a reusable bag from Safeway.

June 2

Minor in possession: 2:10 p.m., 10 Kirkland Ave. A 19-year-old man was arrested after police found him intoxicated on the Marina Park dock and he gave a false name. Police also confiscated marijuana and a pipe.

June 1

Warrant: 8:59 p.m., 9500 block of 132nd Ave. NE. A 56-year-old man was taken into custody after his girlfriend reported he came home drunk and is not allowed in her home while intoxicated. The man had several warrants and was found to have made threats against Kirkland police personnel. He was arrested after police found him riding his bicycle from his girlfriend’s house.

Obstruction: 10:26 p.m., 300 block of Kirkland Ave. A 33-year-old man was arrested after he refused to leave the Kirkland Teen Center’s Bluefish Festival. He was transported to EvergreenHealth Medical Center and his blood alcohol content level was observed to be 0.309 at Kirkland jail.

Assault: 11:40 p.m., 11000 block of 122nd Ln. NE. A 29-year-old man was taken into custody after he attempted to assault a 41-year-old Kirkland firefighter.

May 31

Assault: 2 a.m., 100 block of Fifth Ave. A 46-year-old man was taken into custody after he trespassed Tent City, got into a fight with a 56-year-old woman and refused to leave a tent. He continued to be uncooperative as he was escorted off of the property. He resisted arrest and was subsequently Tasered and pepper sprayed before being arrested.
