Lake Washington PTSA Council recognizes community leaders

The Lake Washington PTSA Council recently held their annual recognition and celebration of the 113th anniversary of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers.

Each year the LWPTSA Council highlights very special awards that are given to individuals and/or community organizations who continually contribute their time towards our schools, PTSAs and others in the Lake Washington School District.

Outstanding Educator Award was given to Ryan Scott, a passionate and enthusiastic 6th grade teacher at Wilder Elementary School and Victor Scarpelli, principal at Finn Hill Jr. High School where he has created an extremely positive learning environment in Finn Hill. The Community Service Award went to Ken Wong for the many years of advocacy he has done on behalf of children and youth as Redmond’s Teen Program Director.

Connie Walsworth was awarded the Certificate of Special Service for her wonderful ways of sharing her passion of glass art with students in the classroom. Cindy Poon was also awarded the Certificate of Special Service for her years as chair of the Reflections Program at the council level and her local unit. The third Certificate of Special Service Award recipient was Jan Shinstrom for her boundless support in all areas at council level and her local unit, Juanita High School, where her child graduates this year.

The Golden Acorn recipient was Beth Angelo for her continued support and hard work to the Special Needs Committee.
