The 2013 Future Business Leaders of America state business leadership conference recently took place at the Red Lion Hotel in Spokane.

Thirty-four students from Kirkland’s International Community School excelled at the competition, taking home awards in 16 events.

A total of 19 club members from International Community School placed in the top five of their event, and 14 are expected to attend nationals this June in Anaheim, Calif.

Katie Park, a junior, was elected vice president of the West Central Region of Washington state. The chapter additionally received gold seal recognition, an award given to schools that achieve a certain level of Future Business Leaders of America excellence within their communities. Apart from performing in their competitive events, students at the conference had the chance to attend educational workshops and explore Spokane.

FBLA provides a platform for students to get a step ahead in the real world through a broad range of business and career-related competitive events.
