Kirkland Police Blotter | Suspects in a pickup steal purse from car while woman unloads groceries

The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.

Between Oct. 1-7, the Kirkland Police Department reported 373 traffic violations (nine DUIs), 16 traffic accidents, seven noise complaints, 13 thefts, nine domestic violence calls, four calls of assault, 22 alarm calls, 16 motor vehicle prowls, two motor vehicle thefts, three burglaries, 16 disturbances, 13 cases of fraud, five harassment calls and three animal control calls. At least 31 people were arrested.

Oct. 7

DUI: 1:32 a.m., 11400 block of 100th Ave. N.E. A 24-year-old Kirkland man was stopped after driving over the solid white line into the bike lane. He failed a field sobriety test and gave a .136 blood alcohol content sample.

Domestic: 10:11 p.m., 12200 block of N.E. 97th Street. A 59-year-old Kenmore man and a 49-year-old Arlington woman got into a verbal dispute over whether the man was allowed in his daughter’s house. The man said that he was given permission to be there. Contact was not able to made with the daughter to confirm the statement. The man agreed not to come back to the house.

Oct. 6

Burglary: 10:40 a.m., 12400 block of N.E. 103 Place. An unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the victim’s home and took several items. Latent prints were recovered from the point of entry and the prints were forwarded to the crime lab for processing.

Traffic offense: 9:42 p.m., 11500 N.E. 72nd Place. A 47-year-old man was stopped for speeding and subsequently arrested for refusal to cooperate with an officer and driving without a license.

Oct. 5

Traffic offense: 12 p.m., 12700 100th Ave. N.E. A 30-year-old Kirkland man was arrested on an outstanding warrant and for an additional count of driving with a suspended license.

Domestic: 6:54 p.m., 12000 block of 100th Ave. N.E. A verbal argument between a husband and wife. No crime occured.

DUI: 10:13 p.m., 400 Central Way. A 30-year-old Bothell woman was stopped for driving with no headlights. Upon contact the woman showed signs of impairment and admitted to drinking four beers. A blood alcohol content sample showed a result of .213.

Oct. 3

Theft: 1:10 p.m., 12200 block of 120th Ave. N.E. A woman was unloading her groceries into her car at Fred Meyer when a newer red full size extended cab truck drove by and a suspect took her purse out of her car.

Theft: 8 a.m., 12500 block of N.E. 117th Place. A woman reported that two fraudulent ATM withdrawals had taken place from her checking accounts.

Car prowl: 4:30 p.m., 100 block of 10th Place S. A man came into the KPD to report that his truck had been entered illegally in his driveway and many items had been stolen.

Oct. 2

DUI: 2:11 a.m., 11400 N.E. 85th Street. A 26-year-old Woodinville man was stopped due to an erratic driving pattern. The man submitted a .135 blood alcohol content sample.
