Kirkland Police Blotter Oct. 21-27

The weekly Kirkland Police blotter is represented on an interactive map below. Instead of listing the selection of calls separately, this feature allows the information relating to the call to be placed on the map itself.

The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.

Between Oct. 21-27, the Kirkland Police Department reported 341 traffic violations, 18 traffic accidents, 19 noise complaints, 16 thefts, four domestic violence, 15 alarms, five motor vehicle thefts, eight motor vehicle prowls, six cases of illegal substances, five burglaries, 12 harassments, three cases of fraud, two malicious mischief cases and three assaults. At least 29 people were arrested.

Oct. 27

Warrant arrest: 3:03 p.m., 8800 132nd Ave. N.E. A 26-year-old Kirkland man was arrested on a felony warrant.

Domestic violence: 10 p.m., 13000 block of N.E. 87th Street. An anonymous 911 call was placed reporting a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival officers heard a verbal argument inside the residence. Once the female challenged, “What are you going to do about it,” the assault began. Officers entered the residence and separated the two parties. The 65-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for fourth degree assault, as he kicked his girlfriend in the stomach. Photographs were taken of the woman’s injuries but she changed her story once the pain stopped and she could breathe normally.

Theft: Someone stole a 51-year-old Kenmore man’s gray Echo Blower, valued at $500, and Weed Whipper ($300) from the back of his work truck and trailer while he was mowing grass. The man did not see anyone suspicious in the area.

Oct. 25

Theft: 4:03 p.m., 8600 block of 120th Ave. N.E. Two Kirkland men were observed stealing video games from Costco and were arrested.

Oct. 24

Malicious mischief: 10:30 p.m., 400 block of 7th Ave. The victim reported that during two consecutive nights, an unidentified suspect used a sharp instrument consistent with a knife to cut the side walls of the tires on her guests’ cars parked on the street and in her driveway.

Oct. 23

Traffic offense: 12:50 a.m., 8500 of south bound I-405 N.E. A 22-year-old Kirkland man was stopped on a traffic violation and was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

Assault: 1:45 a.m., 121 Park Lane. Security at the Lake Street Grill observed two men assaulting another man. Police arrived to witness the end of the assault. After a short foot pursuit that included the security staff, one male was positively identified as a suspect and arrested on fourth degree assault charges. The other suspect got away on foot. The victim was intoxicated and not cooperative.

Theft: A 31-year-old female was arrested for third degree theft at Costco.

Oct. 21

Theft: 1:39 a.m., 12000 block of N.E. 128th Street. A Yellow Cab driver called 911 to report a female passenger who would not pay the $53 fare. Upon arrival, the police officers spoke with the woman and she stated that she had tried to find a family member to pay the cab driver. The cab driver stated that he wanted to press charges for theft of services and the woman was arrested.

Illegal substances: 11:55 p.m., 11400 block of N.E. 124th Street. A 21-year-old male and a 20-year-old female, both from Kirkland, were contacted in a car behind the Goodwill store. Officers observed in plain view a baggie of marijuana located between the two.

Illegal substances: 12:40 p.m., 12000 129th Lane N.E. A 27-year-old Bothell man was stopped leaving the scene of a suspected car prowl. He gave consent for police to search his vehicle and two marijuana pipes were located inside the car and the man was arrested.
