Kirkland Police Blotter Nov. 4-11

The weekly Kirkland Police blotter is represented on an interactive map below. Instead of listing the selection of calls separately, this feature allows the information relating to the call to be placed on the map itself.

The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.

Between Nov. 4-11, the Kirkland Police Department reported 275 traffic violations (with at least nine DUIs), 24 traffic accidents, 15 noise complaints, 21 thefts, 12 disturbances, 30 alarms, three car thefts, 14 car prowls, two cases of illegal substances, three burglaries, nine harassment cases, six cases of fraud, seven malicious mischief cases, four domestic violence calls and two assaults. At least 30 people were arrested.

Nov. 11

Missing person: 5:20 p.m., 211 Parkplace Center. Police were dispatched to the Parkplace QFC in an attempt to locate a runaway. After speaking to people on location the officer was advised the person may be at the Transit Center. The juvenile was contacted and transported to a parent’s place of work.

Nov. 10

Theft: 3:07 p.m., 8629 120th Ave. N.E. Two juveniles were detained by Costco loss prevention, who observed them enter the store without a membership and attempt to steal a video game. Both were arrested for third degree theft.

Domestic violence: 8:39 p.m., 500 block of 15th Ave. A 39-year-old Kirkland female was arrested for assaulting her husband.

Nov. 9

Domestic violence: 6 p.m., 120th Street. A report was made of an assault by a son on his elderly mother. No evidence of such crime was found. Reporting party information is in question.

Nov. 8

Illegal substance: 1:26 p.m., 111 Waverly Way. An 18-year-old Bellevue male was arrested at Heritage Park for possession of 40 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and possession of a legal drug without a prescription.

Nov. 7

DUI: 1:26 a.m., 100 Main Street. A 36-year-old male was stopped after crossing over the center line in front of a patrol car. According to the Department of Licensing, he had a suspended license and was subsequently found to be drinking. He performed poorly on a field sobriety test and was taken into custody. He provided blood alcohol samples of .085 and .089.

Domestic violence: 11:41 a.m., 600 block of Market Street. A fight took place between an engaged couple with the male determined to be the aggressor of the assault.

Nov. 6

DUI: 12:57 a.m., 300 Kirkland Ave. A 43-year-old Maple Valley woman was contacted in her vehicle as it stopped at the driveway to the back side of QFC at Kirkland Avenue. She failed to see an officer waiting behind her in his vehicle for some time and then failed to acknowledge the officer as he stood by her driver’s side window with a flashlight, as the officer watched her try to attempt to use her cell phone. Upon her noticing the officer and rolling down the window, an overwhelming odor of intoxicants came from the car as she slurred her words when she spoke. She refused a field sobriety test. She was subsequently arrested for physical control and later provided two breath samples of .173 and .174.

Assault: 3:45 p.m., 6600 block of 132nd Ave N.E. A male juvenile was assaulted by two unknown males after they demanded his money. Police received a limited suspect description.

DUI: 12:39 p.m., 500 Parkplace Center. An intoxicated male ran into two parked cars and was subsequently arrested.

Nov. 5

Malicious Mischief: 5 a.m., 12000 block of N.E. 80th Street. An unknown person spray painted in black paint a derogatory phrase on the back side of portable classrooms on the campus of Lake Washington High School.

Nov. 4

DUI: 6:28 p.m., 12500 N.E. 85th Street. A 38-year-old male was arrested for DUI, driving with a suspended license, failure to transfer his vehicle within 45 days, failure to stop, no insurance information and hit and run.
