Kirkland Police Blotter | Man arrested for raping woman at motel

The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.

Between Sept. 3-16, the Kirkland Police Department reported 730 traffic violations (eight DUIs), 22 traffic accidents, 28 noise complaints, 20 thefts, 12 domestic violence calls, 42 alarm calls, 25 motor vehicle prowls, four motor vehicle thefts, eight burglaries, 30 disturbances, 19 cases of fraud, 17 harassment calls, 12 malicious mischief cases, three assaults and 11 animal control calls. At least 54 people were arrested.

Sept. 15

Warrant arrest: 9:51 p.m., 10400 N.E. 124th Street. Kirkland Police made contact with a 14-year-old female with a warrant out of Seattle for third degree assault.

Sept. 13

Stolen property: 1 a.m., 10100 block of N.E. 64th Street. Police arrested a 31-year-old Seattle man for providing false statements and possession of burglary tools. The suspect was seen trying several vehicle doors and attempting to open the front door of a nearby residence. He also went through mail boxes and was found in possession of mail.

Sept. 11

Assault: 5:17 p.m., 10400 block of N.E. 60th Street. A woman called police to report that her older sister assaulted their 79-year-old mother after an argument. Upon arrival, the mother complained of pain as well as having markings on the back of her neck. The older sister was arrested.

Minor, liquor violation: 11:52 p.m., 52 Lakeshore Plaza. A juvenile male was stopped for minor in possession.

Sept. 10

Assault: 2 a.m., 100 Park Lane. A fight broke out in front of a hot dog stand. A 29-year-old Olympia man was arrested for fourth degree assault and disorderly conduct. After an argument he chased down the victim and began throwing wild punches. One of the punches landed on the eye of a man trying to break up the fight.

Theft: 3:30 a.m., 211 Parkplace Center. A 16-year-old Kirkland girl, listed as a runaway, was caught shoplifting $26.37 worth of food from QFC and was arrested. The girls’ mother found a threatening letter and did not feel safe taking the girl back home.

Theft: 2:08 p.m., 8629 120th Ave. N.E. A 32-year-old female was arrested when she was caught by Costco security concealing multiple products on her person and attempted to leave without paying.

Sept. 8

Domestic: 7:15 p.m., 6700 Lake Washington Boulevard N.E. A soon-to-be ex-husband sent a process server to his wife’s house to have her served with divorce papers.

Sept. 7

Domestic: 11:05 p.m., 12400 block of 116th Ave. N.E. Police made contact with a 20-year-old suspect and an 18-year-old victim. Both parties were intoxicated and had been arguing. Based on witness reports, the 20-year-old man assaulted the younger man after he ran over his dog. The older man was arrested for assault.

Sept. 5

Sexual assault: 11 p.m., 12000 block of 120th Place N.E. A 23-year-old woman called the Kirkland Police Department to report that she was raped at the Motel 6. The woman advised police that she met the man in Redmond from a mutual friend the previous night. The woman was transported to Evergreen Hospital where a rape kit was completed. A 24-year-old Redmond man was arrested in connection with the case.
