Kirkland Police Blotter for Sept. 2-8

The weekly Kirkland Police blotter is represented on an interactive map below. Instead of listing the selection of calls separately, this feature allows the information relating to the call to be placed on the map itself.

The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.

Between Sept. 2-8, the Kirkland Police Department reported 329 traffic violations (three DUIs), 13 traffic accidents, 17 noise complaints, nine thefts, three animal control calls, two domestic violence calls, 18 alarm calls, seven burglaries, nine motor vehicle prowls, six malicious mischief calls and eight cases of harassment. At least 30 people were arrested.

Sept. 8

Assault: 11:19 p.m., 400 Central Way. A citizen reported a physical altercation between two men near Park Place Center. Upon arrival, the officer observed suspects punch and wrestle with the victim on a nearby sidewalk in the 400 block of Central Way. Intervention was required to stop the assault. The victim sustained a minor contusion to his left eye and the suspect was arrested.

Burglary: 4:20 p.m., 700 block of 8th Street. A report was taken that an unknown suspect cut the lock to a storage unit and took numerous items.

Sept. 5

Domestic violence: 8:40 p.m., 12700 block of N.E. 129th. A 39-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for domestic violence assault after punching his 22-year-old stepson in the face numerous times. The fight began over the victim not being able to find a job. The victim suffered bruises.

Sept. 4

Assault: 7:05 p.m., 10000 block of N.E. 120th Street. An officer was dispatched to a reported assault. The reporting party told dispatch that her son was stabbed with a stick and that she was punched in the face. The victim was en route to Evergreen Hospital to be treated for her injuries and she did not know where the 15-year-old suspect was.

Theft: 8:40 p.m., 12221 120th Ave. N.E. A 22-year-old Renton man took an old Fred Meyer sales receipt, then selected several items from the store shelves matching the receipt and turned them in for a refund.

Theft: 3:20 a.m., 11224 block of N.E. 124th Street. A 25-year-old man was arrested for stealing a bottle of chardonnay wine and driving with a suspended license.

Sept. 2

Weapons: 4:20 p.m., 400 Kirkland Ave. The president of Halo was contacted after one of his security guards transported a large movie prop gun from one of their buildings to another. The security officer walked along Kirkland Ave. with the huge gun in plain view causing panic to one Kirkland resident.

Liquor violation: 9:17 p.m., 202 3rd Street. An 18-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for a liquor violation after an officer saw him stumble out of a bathroom and fall down in the grass. The suspect showed numerous signs of intoxication and provided a blood alcohol test of .165.
