Kirkland Police Blotter August 5-11

The weekly Kirkland Police blotter is represented on an interactive map below. Instead of listing the selection of calls separately, this feature allows the information relating to the call to be placed on the map itself.

The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.

Between August 5-11, the Kirkland Police Department reported 336 traffic violations (five DUIs), 25 traffic accidents, 22 noise complaints, 17 thefts, four animal control calls, five domestic violence calls, three burglaries, 12 motor vehicle prowls, four vehicle thefts and two assaults. At least 39 people were arrested.

August 10

Domestic violence: 10:35 a.m., 1000 block of 4th Street. A 41-year-old Redmond man assaulted his ex-wife’s boyfriend during a child custody exchange. The Redmond man also damaged the door frame on the couple’s house in the process.

August 10

Indecency: 8:09 p.m., 11500 block of N.E. 118th Street. A 27-year-old Kenmore man was arrested for urinating in public.

August 9

Obstructing: 2:32 a.m., 12400 block of N.E. 131st Court. Officers arrested a 28-year-old Kirkland man in Bellevue on fourth degree domestic violence charges stemming from an incident in Kirkland four hours earlier.

Warrant arrest: 1:49 a.m., 136 Central Way. A 23-year-old man involved in a disturbance was arrested on a Marysville warrant.

August 8

Exposure: 10:06 a.m., 100th Ave. N.E. and N.E. 132nd Street. A man was contacted at the Safeway in Juanita after reports he exposed himself. King County officers requested Kirkland police assistance after the suspect got onto a bus traveling through Kirkland. The man denied exposing himself. The victim could not be found. The suspect was provided a ride to a homeless shelter in Seattle.

August 7

Theft: 11:55 a.m., 12200 block of 120th Ave. N.E. A Fred Meyer employee was arrested after he was observed on video taking money from the cash register he was working. Store security began to monitor the 39-year-old Kirkland man after his register continually came up short.

August 6

Minor, liquor violation: 12:13 a.m., 700 3rd Street. Officers responded to a report of five males in an SUV having a loud argument. When contacted the males appeared youthful with a strong odor of intoxicants emanating from the vehicle. When asked for identification three were under the age of 21. All three were charged with Minor in Consumption.

August 5

Burglary: 1:45 p.m., 1700 block of 4th Street. A burglary took place at a Kirkland residence with various video games, an Xbox 360 console and a laptop computer was taken.
