Kirkland man arrested after striking pedestrian on I-405

A 54-year-old Kirkland man was arrested late Tuesday night after he struck a pedestrian on the southbound on-ramp to I-405 at Northeast 85th Street in Kirkland, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A 54-year-old Kirkland man was arrested late Tuesday night after he struck a pedestrian on the southbound on-ramp to I-405 at Northeast 85th Street in Kirkland, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The victim, an 18-year-old Renton man, was transported to Harborview Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.

The victim was standing with other pedestrians exchanging insurance information following a minor two-car accident on the ramp. The man’s vehicle was blocking the on-ramp lane.

The suspect’s vehicle attempted to pass the accident between the blocking car and the Jersey barrier. The suspect struck the man, Jersey barrier and the victim’s vehicle.

The suspect was found to be intoxicated at the time of the accident. The roadway was blocked for more than three hours.
