Holy Spirit to host council candidate forum Oct. 12

The Holy Spirit Lutheran Church Advocacy Committee will host a Kirkland City Council Candidate Forum at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12 at the church, located at 10021 N.E. 124th St., Kirkland.

To date, the forum to be held at Holy Spirit is the only announced city council candidate debate open to the general public. All candidates for the Kirkland city council in 2009 including challengers Amy Walen, Martin Morgan, Penny Sweet, Brad Larssen, Doreen Marchione, and Karen Tennyson as well as incumbent councilmembers Tom Hodgson and Joan McBride are expected to attend. The event will be moderated by Denise Smith, past president of the Seattle League of Women Voters.

The Advocacy Committee of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church was created to educate, enable, and encourage church and community members to advocate their point of view to government leaders and elected officials. This is the second candidate forum hosted at Holy Spirit.
