The Kirkland Heritage Society (KHS) last week announced Lynette Friberg Weber as its newly elected president for a two-year term, which began July 1. She succeeds Robert Burke, who will remain on the KHS board as a past president and continue to work with the City of Kirkland on related community matters.

Weber has past experience with KHS as a board member since the early 1990s and has chaired a variety of KHS committees. She is also a King County Landmarks Commissioner, serves on the Design Review Committee for Landmarked Properties and is a member of the Association of King County Historical Organizations.

Weber said her focus as president will be congruent with KHS’s mission, which is to identify historic resources; encourage their preservation; collect, preserve, exhibit and interpret the history and heritage of Kirkland and its people; and promote public involvement in and appreciation of its heritage and cultures.
