Adele Pickett of Redmond spent her 89th birthday on July 12 doing the same thing she does every Monday afternoon. She volunteered at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center.

Pickett welcomes patients, family members and visitors to the hospital from noon to 4 p.m. each Monday. She works behind the information desk at Evergreen’s main entrance. She has volunteered more than 4,200 hours at the hospital since 1984.

“Adele is simply amazing,” said Marcia Long, director of the volunteers. “She goes to water aerobics in the morning and then she comes here afterward.”
